John Jors, 78, a resident of Kalkaska county about 56 years, passed away at his home in Kalkaska, Monday morning about 6 o'clock, after an illness of ten days.
Mr. Jors was born December 1, 1870, near Stone Lake, LaGrange, Indiana. He moved to South Boardman about 56 years ago, from there moving to a farm in Springfield township, where he lived until a few years ago when he retired, moving to Kalkaska.
He was married to Hattie Clark 54 years ago.
Besides being an industrious hard working farmer, he found time to serve his community and township, holding offices in the township, school and on the road commission.
Surviving are the wife, Hattie, one sons, Harold of Kalkaska; one granddaughter, Mrs. Glenn Conway of Grand Rapids, one great granddaughter; one sister, Martha Miller of Three Rivers; three brothers, George, Three Rivers; Frank, White Pigeon; Fred of Flint.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the Berg Funeral Home with burial in the Clark Cemetery in Springfield Township. Rev. A.R. Ellis of South Boardman officiated at the service.
