Mr. John A. Haskin, an old resident of Springfield, died last Friday at the advanced age of 89 years and nearly 6 months. His funeral was held on Sunday, Sept. 13, at the First Disciple church in Springfield, Rev. M. McQuay officiating; interment in the Springfield Cemetery.
When the call came for volunteers in 1861 he was among the first to answer and served his country faithfully until the close of the war. Forty-five years ago he came to Springfield, where he has since resided, until he answered the roll call of his great commander. his last battle has been fought and the victory won.
