James William Johnson, six year old son of Laura Cunningham of South Boardman, died Friday, August 25, 1989, of injuries suffered in an accident near his home.
James, who made his home with his mother and friend, George Groner, had been a lifelong resident of the Kalkaska and South Boardman areas. He was to enter the first grade at Forest Area School.
He was born in Traverse City on Dec 22, 1982.
Surviving besides his mother, are two brothers, Leith Cunningham and Jesse Johnson both of home; one sister, Heather Cunningham at home; his father, Robert Johnson of Grand Rapids; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Johnson of Kalksaka; his paternal great grandfather, Earl Hendricks of Kalkaska; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clair and Wilma Rosenberg; and his paternal great grandmother, Dorothy Hendricks.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Aug. 27 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. William McQueen officiated. Burial was in Excelsior Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
