James (Jim) W. McElrath, 90, passed away Dec 11, 1997, at Cheboygan Memorial Hospital.
Mr. McElrath was born Sep 25, 1907, in Kalkaska County near Spencer to Mr. and Mrs. William (Clara) McElrath. He was united in marriage to Ilah Miller in Eaton Rapids in 1927.
They enjoyed 67 years together before Ilah's death in 1994. The last several years, Mr. McElrath has lived in Alanson with his daughter and son in law.
While farming in Dimondale, he also worked at the Reo plant in Lansing for 17 years.
Mr. McElrath is survived by his daughter Janith (Ed) Sears of Alanson, foster daughter Connie (Doug) Dail in Ann Arbor; daughter in law Nancy McElrath of Harrison; sister Ila Tanner of Traverse City; brothers Joseph McElrath of Kalkaska and Robert (Zola) McElrath of Battle Creek; seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his beloved wife Ilah, dear son Jimmy, and brothers Marvin and Purl. Funeral services were held Dec 15 at Field and Leik Funeral Home in Dimondale. Rev. Mark Wolfe officiated. Internment was in Dimondale Cemetery.
