Mrs. Ila M. Tanner, 92, of Traverse City, died Thu, Jan 21, 1999, at Birchwood Nursing Center in Traverse City.
Mrs. Tanner resided in Kalkaska for many years prior to moving to Traverse City. She formerly operated an adult foster care home, and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and cooking.
Born in Kalkaska County on May 1, 1906, she was the daughter of William and Clara French McElrath.
Surviving are sons Gordon (Janet) VandenHout of Sparta and James (Pat) VandenHout of Manawa, WI; daughters Joyce VandenHout and Joan Bartell, both of Traverse City, and Jeanette Vipond of Kalkaska; brothers Joseph McElrath of Lodi and Robert (Zola) McElrath of Battle Creek; 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by brothers Pearle, Marvin, and James McElrath.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
