James V. Symonds, Creighton Rd., Fife Lake, passed away Saturday, July 28, 1973 at the age of 77 years. 

Mr. Symonds was born May 16, 1896 in Osceola County, Michigan, the son of Henry and Martha Symonds, both of whom preceded hi min death. On September 30, 1919 at Evart he was united in marriage to Ethel Allen who survives. He had been a resident of Kalkaska County since 1944 and was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the South Boardman American Legion Post 463. 

Surviving besides his wife are: two sons, Harold of Fife Lake, and Allen of Wyoming; six daughters, Mrs. Helen Leatherwood and Mrs. Edna VanSplintern both of Charlotte, Mrs. Pauline Stettler of Fife Lake, Mrs. Wenona Cummer of Wyoming, Mrs. Grace Potter of Hastings and Mrs. Donna Pearson of Karline; 1 brother Malcom of Vermontville; two sisters, Mrs. Iva Hicks of Evart and Mrs. Lila Hargrave of Three Rivers; also 33 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, 1973 from the Schwartz-Wolfe Funeral Home with the Rev. Oscar Coolbaugh of Fife Lake Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Springfield Township Cemetery.
