James “Jim” Owen Jones, 98, passed away at 1:24 am, Tue, Aug 14, 2018 at Bridgewater Center Nursing Home.
He was born in Poplar Plains, KY on Dec 28, 1919 to Calvert Jones and Nellie Ann (Hurst) Jones. Both parents precede him in death.
Jim graduated High School and married Dorothy Imogene (Slentz) on Sep 2, 1939 in Montpelier, IN.
He retired from 3M Company in 1982 after 15 years of service. He was a member of 3M Retirement Club and Desoto United Methodist Church.
Jim enjoyed being outside and gardening.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Dorothy I. Jones of Hartford City; sons, Jerry L Jones of Long, SC and Clifford E Jones (wife, Reba S Fay) of Conroe, TX; grandchildren, Tina Mitchell, Angela Shadowin, Aaron Jones, Andrea Scott, Kim Beeler, Stephanie Jones, and Megan Jones; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brother, Robert F (wife, Carole) Jones of Hartford City; several nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his son, Rev. James B Jones, grandson, Chuck Jones, brothers, Edmond M Jones and Calvert Raymond Jones and sisters, Hazel R McGeath-Hahn and Dortha L Osborn.
Funeral service will be at 11 am Fri, Aug 17, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N High St, Hartford City with Rev. Lloyd Hall officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Muncie. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm Thu, Aug 16, 2018 and from 10 to 11 m Fri, Aug 17, 2018 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
