Dorothy Imogene Jones, 99.5, passed away on Sun, Jan 9, 2022 at Miller’s Merry Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Blackford County on Jun 4, 1922 to Alonzo Ervin and Losie (VanHorn) Slentz. Her parents preceded her in death.
Dorothy married James O. “Jim” Jones on Sep 2, 1939. This loving marriage lasted 78 years before Jim’s passing in 2018. Into this marriage three sons were born, Rev. James B Jones, Jerry L Jones, and Clifford E Jones.
Dorothy and Jim enjoyed boating, fishing, spending winters in South Texas and gardening. Dorothy also loved cooking, tending to her flowers, crocheting and time spent with her family.
She was a member of the DeSoto United Methodist Church.
Dorothy retired from 3M Company in 1983 after 25 years of service.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Clifford E. (wife, Reba) Jones of Conroe, TX and Jerry L (wife, Susan) Jones of Longs, SC; grandchildren, Tina (husband, Danny) Mitchell, Angela (husband, Geore0 Shadoin Andrea Jones-Scott (husband, Brian), Aaron (wife, Kristy) Jones, Megan Jones and Stephanie Williams; 16 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her son, Rev. James B. “Jim” Jones, daughter in laws, Marie E Jones and Laura J Jones, grandchildren, Charles O “Chuck” Jones and Kimberly Jones-Beeler, sister, Vivian Quisenberry, brothers, Arthur Slentz, Albert “Jack” Slentz and Paul Slentz.
Funeral service will be at 2 pm Thu, Jan 13, 2022 at Keplinger Funeral Home.
