J.M. "Jiggs" Briggs, 74, of Kalkaska, died Monday, February 18, in Abilene, Texas. Mr. Briggs moved to Kalkaska in 1975, but had lived most of his life in Texas where he was born Oct 21, 1916.
Mr. Briggs was united in marriage April 11, 1936 to Yolanda Bowles, who survives.
He is also survived by one son, James of San Antonio, Tex; seven daughters: Kathleen McGraw of Abilene, Tex., Patty Hawkins of Kalkaska; Carol Corbin of Gaylord, Tallulah Steel of Granbury, Tex., Rene Cruce of Bossier city, La., Brenda Overton of Abilene, tex, and Glenda Graver of Petersburg, VA; one sister, Fairy Nesmith of Houston, Tex, and 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren.
One granddaughter, two brothers, and three sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at the Potosi Methodist Church, where he was a former member, on Thursday, Feb 21. Burial was at the Potosi Cemetery. Rev. H.B. Terry, Jr. officiated.
