Howard Robinette Huyck, age 98, of Adrian, went to be with the Lord, Sat, May 19, 2012, surrounded by his family and under the care of Hospice of Lenawee. He was born on Feb 27m, 1914, in Sears, MI, to Walter and Bertha (Eldridge) Huyck. On Sept 28, 1940, he married Venus Marie Hillard. She preceded him in death in Sep 1986. Howard served in the US Marines during World War II in the Battle of Iwo Jima, where on Feb 23, 1945, he witnessed the Raising of the flag of the U.S. atop Mount Suribachi. He loved spending time with his family, hunting, horse shoes, playing cards, golfing, the Detroit Pistons, and the Detroit Tigers. In addition to his son, Paul (Charlotte) Huyck of Adrian; one daughter Carole (Dale) Stewart of Adrian; a sister in law, Beverly (Jim) Baldwin of Adrian; 6 grandchildren, Kevin Stewart, Rodney (Sherry) Stewart, Karen (Don) Chrisman, Jeff (Star) Huyck, Greg Huyck, and Alissa (Ken) Hoskins; and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; a baby daughter, Karen Ann; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Howard will be held on Tue, May 22, 2012, at 10am at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian, with Pastor Linda Farley officiating. Burial will be in Lyons Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the VFW Annis-Fint Post #1584. Visitation will be held on Mon from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Anderson Funeral Home.
