Hilda (Groner) Bateman, age 63, a former resident of Kalkaska, died Sunday, Dec 9, 1990 at her home in Holt. She had been ill for a number of years.
Mrs. Bateman was born in Kalkaska on July 2, 1927 to Arlo J. and Opal L. (Krepps) Groner. In 1945, in Kalkaska, she was married to Lio Bernard Bateman, who survives. The family moved to the Holt area in 1950, and resided there to the present time.
Mrs. Bateman was a homemaker and in addition to caring for her seven children, she was foster mother to several children.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Bernard Bateman of Oklahoma and Tom Bateman of Jackson; five daughters, Diane Kyte of Fla., Rebecca Gamez of Holt, Sheila Jenks of Lansing, Judith Chapman of Grand Ledge and Rita Rhodes of Holt; 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Also surviving is her mother, Opal Groner of Kalkaska; her sister, Alta Mae Bennett of Williamsburg and a brother, Norman Groner of Kalkaska.
She was precede in death by her father, Arlo Groner, of Kalkaska.
Graveside services will be held and interment in Excelsior Cemetery, Kalkaska County, on Thursday, Dec 13. Jeff Badgero officiated.
