Henry Charles Knight, 79, of Gordonsville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2001, at the Orange County Nursing Home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1921, in Lenawee County, and was the son of the late Arthur Jackson Knight and Frieda Stuck Knight. Mr. Knight was a retired carpenter, and a member of the Gordonsville United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II, and served with distinction in the European Theater with the 820th Tank Destroyer Battalion of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Glass Knight of Gordonsville; two sons, Henry C. Knight Jr and his wife Julie of Chesterfield and Glenn T. Knight of Gordonsville; three daughters, Betty Jones of Houston, Eileen Tomlin of Charlottesville, and Barbara Jane “Janie” Brown and her husband, Peter, of Easton, 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Gordonsville, conducted by the Rev. Marilyn Spencer. Interment will be in the Bybee’s Road Baptist Church Cemetery near Zion Cross Roads. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
