Alice Lucille Knight, 89, of his Orange, formerly of Gordonsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 12, 2010, at The Dogwood Village of Orange County. She was born on July 12, 1921, to Charles Edward and Melissa Mae Glass.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2001, by her husband of 60 years, Henry Charles Knight Sr. Lucille graduated from Louisa County High School in 1940. Lucille had a strong faith in God, and was a devoted member of the Gordonsville United Methodist Church. She was well respected, and a good neighbor and friend to all. She is survived by her family, daughter, Betty K. Jones of Houston, Texas; daughter, Eileen K. Tomlin of Charlottesville, Virginia; a daughter, Barbara Jane “Janie” Brown and her husband Pete of Crisfield, Maryland; a son, Henry C. Knight Jr and his wife, Julie of Chesterfield, Virginia; a son, Glenn T. Knight of Gordonsville, Virginia; grandchildren, Elizabeth Manly, Melissa Jones, Tina Hinojosa, Lyndon Jones, Don Jones, Jeffrey Hensley, Anthony Tomlin, Melanie Tomlin, Kelley Knight, Laura Lesher, Casey Knight, Monica Weadon, Sherry Brockman, Crystal Knight; a sister, Mildred G. Smith of Troy, VA; twenty one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home in Gordonsville, Virginia. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Bybee’s Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Troy, Virginia, where she will join her husband and parents in eternal rest.
