Mrs. Leona Hill, 75, of Rapid City, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 1989, at Northern Michigan Hospitals, Petoskey.
Mrs. Hill had been a lifelong resident of Kalkaska County and was a member of the Rapid City Church of Christ. She enjoyed dancing.
She was born in Grand Traverse County Dec. 18, 1913, to John Franklin and Grace West Atkinson. On Feb 17, 1932, in Kalkaska, she was united in marriage with Raymond Hill. He died on Nov. 24, 1976.
Surviving are three sons, Leroy of Kalkaska, John of Grand Rapids, and Gerald of Rapid City; four daughters, Joyce Patton of Bellaire, Alice Hill of Rapid City, Marie Couturier of Sparta, and Elaine Griffiths of Grand Rapids; 28 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Francis; one daughter, Barbara Ann; five brothers, Percy, Jesse, Henry, Carl, and Francis Atkinson; and four sisters, Bernice Zigler, Emma Fewless, Mildred Hart, and Bertha Schwank.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Jerry Leazenby, pastor of the Rapid City Church of Christ officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
