George W. Barr of 903 E Seventh Ave. died at 11:35am Thur at War Memorial Hospital after an illness of two months.
He was born in Sault Ste Marie on Jul 23, 1896, and was a lifetime resident of the Sault, retiring in 1956 after 37 years with the Union Carbide plant.
He is survived by his wife, Genevieve, whom he married in 1924; two sons, George and Dale of the Sault; one brother, Samuel of Flint, and six grandchildren, all of the Sault.
The body will lie in state at the Bailey-Newhouse Funeral Home from 2 until 5pm today and from 7 until 10pm tonight.
Services will be held at the funeral home at 2pm Sat with the Rev. Fred Gibbs officiating, and interment will be in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Thomas DeMolen, Francis Beaudrie, Fred Start, Alger Mende, Jack Douglas and Wesley McKiddie.
