George David Barr of Sault Ste Marie, MI passed away, at the age of 91, on May 8, 2018. He was born Dec 1, 1926 in Sault Ste Marie, MI.
Surviving George are daughters, Annetta Wojnarski and Gen Mackie, sister in law, Mary Oja, all of Sault Ste Marie, MI. Three grandchildren Cailie Mackie of Rochester, MN, Julie Wojnarski of Muskegon, MI, Michael Wojnarski of Knoxville, TN, one great granddaughter Jazzlyn Wojnarski; and special niece Collen Barr (Dale) Sibbald who both visited George over the past years.
George was preceded in death by his wife Anna (Oja) of 64 years of marriage and his brother Dale Barr.
George worked at the Tannery, Carbide, and retired from the Corps of Engineers on May 31, 1986 after 30 years and 6 months of Federal Service. George served in the US Army and was stationed in Frankfort, Germany.
George enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, and hunting. He loved to coach baseball and hockey in his earlier years. He enjoyed having coffee and reading the Evening News in the Community Room at West Pier Apartments where he made many new friends.
Graveside services and military honors will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Tue, Jun 12, 2018 at 1 pm. Arrangements are in the care of Hovie Funeral Home.
