Services for Gary Wayne Helsel Sr, 59, of New London, TX, were held Tue, October 2, 2012 at 2pm in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel in Overton, TX. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near New London.
Mr. Helsel died Fri, September 28, 2012, at his residence. He was born Mar 21, 1953 in Cadillac to the late Francis Erwin and Joann Thorington Helsel. He moved to New London 35 years ago from Michigan and was a former employee of Pool Well Service as an operator.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and he was a Christian.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Helsel on Apr 26, 2010, and by his father in law, Cecil Smires, and a sister in law, Marsha Smires of New London.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Helsel of New London; a son, Bo Helsel of New London; step mother, Bernice Helsel of Kalkaska; mother in law, Berta Smires of New London; brother and sister in laws, Stanley and Tracy Helsel of Fife Lake, James and Cheryl Helsel of Houston; step brothers and sister in law, Dennis Beaver, Kenneth and Georgia Beaver, and Mike Beaver, all of Kalkaska; brothers and sisters in law, Larry and Barbara Smires and Jerry and Shirley Smires all of New London; Grampy's Girls, Wheeter and Ashley Smires, both of New London; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 7-9pm on Mon, October 1.
