Frederick A. Lynch, 84, died Wednesday at Munson Medical Center, Traverse City.
A retired farmer, he moved to Fife Lake in 1941 from Midland. He was a member of the Fife Lake United Methodist Church.
He was born in Deerfield, Ill., on Feb 26, 1904, to August and Christine (Barchet) Zahl. On July 4, 1937, in Illinois, he married the former Virginia Bailey, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Gene Lynch of Williamsburg, jack Steele of Long Beach, Calif., and Jim Zahl of Three Oaks; a daughter, Catherine Taylor of Calumet, Ill,; five sisters, Minnie Porchert and Ruth Miller, both of Butternut, Wis., Elizabeth Porchert of Riverforest, Ill, Cora Schiebel of Otis Orchard, Wash., and Esther Achorn of Watervliet; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Tilly, and two sisters, Martha McKown and Christine Huss.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. The Rev. Gary Wales will officiate. Burial will be at the Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
