Everett L. "Dude" Johnson, 79, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 1989, at Traverse City Osteopathic Hospital.
Mr. Johnson was a retired carpenter, and served as a Staff Sgt. in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a life member and past commander of Land O' Lakes Post 8684 V.F.W. and a life member of the D.A.V. He was an avid sportsman, and enjoyed hunting, and fishing.
Mr. Johnson was born in Kalkaska on Jan. 20, 1910, to William and Effie Davis Johnson. He married Thelma Kimball on Sept 13, 1946, in South Boardman.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma; two daughters, Julie Cazel of Kalkaska and Joanne Sims of Ortonville; seven grandchildren; and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by several half brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug 30 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. E. Dan Johnson, pastor of the Kalkaska Church of Christ, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
