Sewell, Eunice Adeline

In Memory of
Eunice Adeline Sewell

BIRTH: 05 Dec 1938 Gaylord, Otsego, Michigan

DEATH: 09 Jul 1985 Flint, Genesee, Michigan

Eunice was born at home on the farm in Gaylord, MI. She was married several times and also had several homosexual relationships, some that were long term. Due to her female relationships, her children were removed from her care in the 1960’s and placed in foster care for almost 5 years. She fought this all the way to the Supreme Court even going on the Phil Donohue show, she then won custody of her children back but after all the time and moves as well as the publicity in the papers and on national TV, this family was very damaged. Eunice was diagnosed as Bi-Polar Disorder (also known as manic depression) in the early 1980’s after many close suicide attempts. Her psychiatric hospitalization changed her life and there were no more suicide attempts  after that but it and the repeated abuse of prescription drugs had taken there toll on her body. She died at the age of 46 from an epileptic seizure that caused her to have a massive heart attack. She was cremated and was not actually buried at Flint Memorial Park until May of 1990 when her infant grandchildren, Laura and Logan Waldron died. We then placed her cremains in the casket with Laura and Logan before they were buried and bought the plot next to them to put her headstone as there was not enough room on their headstone for her name as well. Her plot is actually empty. We thought she would like the thought of being with her grandchildren for eternity. She loved her kids but loved her grandkids even more.
