In Memory of
Elsie (Harper) Gauld

BIRTH: 03 Sep 1921 Barryton, Mecosta, Michigan

DEATH: 23 Feb 2013 Fife Lake, Grand Traverse, Michigan

Elsie Gauld, 91, a resident of Fife Lake most of her life passed away peacefully ending her battle with cancer on Saturday, February 23, 2013 with loved ones and friends by her side.

Elsie was born on September 3, 1921 in Barryton, Michigan to the late Archie and Ethel (Gilchrist) Harper.

On March 25, 1939 in Fife Lake, Michigan she was united in marriage to her loving husband Stanley Arthur Gauld who preceded her in death on October 15, 1988.

She worked at and retired after many years from Manton Industries and was always a cheerful giver with a perpetual smile, lending a listening ear and helping hand to all around her.

Elsie can be remembered as a woman of great and unconditional love too. More than anything else she treasured the times with family and friends. Her greatest joy was sharing time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Those visits brought her a special joy bringing a smile to her face every tie.

She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her, she was a truly wonderful wife and mother. Elsie leaves behind her daughter, Shirley Hilts of Burton, her sons, Jim (Bonnie) Gauld and George (Anita) Gauld of Fife Lake; 7 grandchildren (Doris, Tammy, Tim, Marty, Stan, Julie, and Glen), 12 great grandchildren, 15 great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends who cherish in her memory.

God saw Elsie was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around her and whispered, “it’s time to come to me”. With tearful hearts we prayed for her and hoped that she would stay but told her it was time to go and that it was okay. One goodbye wish was asked giving her permission to leave, “When you see Grandpa give him this kiss for me” then the gentle kiss was placed on her check along with his loving hug.  The family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thanks” to the special caregivers at Kalkaska Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, especially Vicki, Brenda, and Debbie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother (Harold Harper), sister (Evelyn Kinney) and two half sisters (Edith Smith and Goldie Smith).

A memorial service will be held in the Spring with interment to follow in the Clark Cemetery alongside her husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kalkaska Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
