Betty Fleury was born Aug 13, 1948 and passed away Apr 20, 2023 at the Hospice house of Cheboygan, MI. She has gone home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by her two daughters, Alice (Curtis) Wilson and Kaye (Jimmy) Ostwald and their father, Roger Fleury and stepfather Carlton Lemorie.
She is also survived by brothers: Ralph (Khristie) Bettis of Cheboygan, Robert (Gloria) Bettis also of Cheboygan, Eugene (Joyce) Sewell of Ellsworth, and sisters: Dorleska “Penny” Glazier of Gaylord, Elaine Laforest also of Gaylord, and Denise Pattison of Charlevoix. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Cheyenne (Kyle) Blanchard, Steve Smith, Ryan Cook, Delaney Cook ,Richard Clark IV, and Noah Wilson, Annie Ostwald, Jasic Blanchard, and Beau Ostwald.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Alice Bettis, and her biological father Floyd Sewell, daughter, Rebecca Lynn Bettis, brothers: Lyle Bettis and Joseph Sewell, sisters: Karen Carrigan and Cathy Briggs, and great grandson Kody Blanchard.
Betty graduated from Cheboygan High School in 1967, and later attained a degree as a nursing assistant. She also worked in the hotel and restaurant industry for many years. She attended the Nazarene Church of Cheboygan regularly, and was always willing to help those in need.
Some of her interests included: gardening, collecting pudding stones, creating stained glass artwork, and canning. She also knitted beautiful sweaters and afghans for her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time at the beach swimming. Betty came from generations of musically talented people and left behind a legacy to her children and grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on May 13th, 2023 at the Cheboygan Church of the Nazarene on Court Street, at 11 am with a luncheon to follow.
