Arthur Leonard Gonyer, 76, of Fife Lake passed away on October 29, 2014. Arthur was born to Fred and Florence (Noel) Gonyer on December 11, 1937 in Fife Lake. He was raised with a strong work ethic and was a self proclaimed self made man. Art was a Jack of all Trades, he worked in the lumber industry, was a builder and owned and operated three separate adult foster care homes for nearly 40 years of his life. Most recently he worked in the excavating/ construction trade with his sons. Art was a family man, he adored his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and of course his mini pin “Trouble” she was always by his side. He took pride in maintaining a well kept yard and in his spare time you could always find him on a tractor or other piece of heavy equipment. For fun he would attend auctions or go to the casino and play slots.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Walter, Robert and Fred; and sister, Pearl, first wife Dianna, and second wife Linda. He is survived by his brother Louis, his children: Pearl Gonyer, Brian (Joanna) Gonyer, Debbie Gonyer, Joanna (Tim) Durfee, Jason Gonyer, and Adam (Jen) Gonyer. 18 grandchildren; Benjamin, Ashley, Ray, Lisa, Emily, Jessica, Garrett, Emma, Caitlyn, Maddie, Ethan, Breanna, Kylee, Molly, Anna, Elly, Eli, Leah and 2 great grandchildren: Mason and Audrina.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1st from 4pm to 8pm at the Kalkaska Funeral Home. Final visitation on Sunday, November 2nd at 1pm, with a funeral service at 2pm in the chapel at the Kalkaska Funeral Home, Pastor Bryan McInerney officiating. Burial will be immediately following at Clark Cemetery in Fife Lake, and the family welcomes you to a luncheon at the Fife Lake American Legion Hall from 4pm to 6pm.
