Anita G. (Salenski) Birgy, 88. of Kalkaska passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 11, 2003. at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
She was born on March 29. 1915, in Kalkaska, the daughter of John and Margaret (Gambin) Steve.
Anita was a faithful member of St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church and Parish Council of Catholic Woman. She was also active at St. Aloysius Catholic Church and a volunteer at the Senior Center. She loved dancing, baking pies, cooking and participating in the Senior Band.
Anita is survived by her son. Norman D. (Pauline) Salenski of Kalkaska; granddaughter, Kathy A. (Richard) Smith of Kalkaska, great-granddaughter, Chelsea R. Smith; and sisters, Bernardine Seeley of Kalkaska and Sally McGarry of Eaton Rapids.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Birgy: grandson, Jeffrey D. Salenski; and her brother, Joseph Steve.
There was a scripture service at Wolfe Funeral Home on July 14. The Mass of Christian Burial was on Tues- day. July 15, at St. Mary of the Woods. Interment was at St. Aloysius Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, St. Aloysius Catholic Church or the Kalkaska Animal Shelter.
