Graveside services were held Friday afternoon, September 11, 1959, at the Springfield township cemetery, Kalkaska County, for Andrew David Tallman Jr., five weeks old son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Tallman of Deford, who was killed Tuesday in an automobile accient.
Funeral services were held Thursday night at the Little Funeral Home in Cass City where Mrs. Tallman, nee Jessie Battenfield, of Fife Lake, and her daughter are hospitalized. Mrs. Tallman was permitted to leave the Pleasant Home Hospital for the services in Cass City but was not considered able to make the trip to Fife Lake.
The accident occurred about 8:30 Tuesday evening near Deford. In the turning out to pass another car on a narrow country road the Tallman car slid into the ditch. In attempting to regain the highway the car hit a stump and caused it to go out of control.
Mrs. Tallman received cuts and bruises and little five year old Pattie a broken leg, and the baby was killed. Mr. Tallman was shaken up but not otherwise injured. The Tallmans reside on a farm near Deford and were going into town when the accident occurred.
Mrs. Lloyd Battenfield and Mrs. Tallman wen tto Cass City Tuesday night to be with the family.
