Mrs. Alzera A. Haskin, 81, of Fife Lake, died late Sunday night at the Osteopathic hospital in Traverse City, following a short illness.
Alzera A. Cary was born in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Sept. 19, 1873, the daughter of John and Phyan Cary. She came with her parents to Michigan and settled on a farm in Springfield township, Kalkaska county, in 1886.
On September 23, 1889, she was united in marriage to William H. Haskin of Fife Lake and to this union were born eight children.
Mrs. Haskin was active in civic and community affairs. She helped in the organizing and was one of the original officers of the Fife Lake Ancient Order of Gleaner Arbor, a Royal Neighbor officer, an active member of the Springfield Church of Christ and until a few years ago was a member of the Clark school board.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Rena Long, Mrs. Zana Bourne and Mrs. Rose Ash all of Detroit, Mrs. Olive Aldrich of Traverse City; four sons, Alex and Edward Haskin of Detroit, Royal Haskin of Lake City, and Fred Haskin of Traverse City, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Mr. Haskin preceded her in death in 1941.
Funeral services were held from the Springfield Church of Christ Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Springfield cemetery. Rev. Fry of the Springfield church officiated, assisted by Rev. Eldens of the Fife Lake Methodist Church.
