Mrs. Wilma A. Johnson, 73, longtime resident of Mancelona and Kalkaska, died Sat, Oct 23, 1993, at her residence in Kalkaska. Funeral services were held Oct 26, at the Paullin Funeral Home, Mancelona. Pastor Charles VanLente and Elder Theodore Engel Jr. officiated. Burial took place in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Mrs. Johnson was born Feb 13, 1920, in Bancroft, MI , the daughter of Howard and Letha (Owen) Sheller. She graduated from Bancroft High School as her class valedictorian in 1937. On Aug 17, 1937, she married Wilfred C. Johnson in Lansing and he survives. Mrs. Johnson along with her husband, own and operated the Mancelona Bowling Lanes from 1952 to 1956; the General Electric Appliance Store in Mancelona from 1956 to 1958; the Carefree Cove Resort Store of Manistee Lake from 1970 to 1985; the Rustic Inn Restaurant and currently, the Manistee Lake Laundry.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the C.E.T.A. (Coldsprings Excelsior Twp Association) and enjoyed crochet, crossword puzzles, bowling, fishing, baking and the company of others.
Also surviving beside the husband are her children, Robert (Diane) Johnson of Kalkaska; Ronald (Nancy) Johnson of Lansing, Kenneth (Lilo) Johnson of Florida, and Charles Johnson and friend Linda of Mancelona; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; her brothers Wayne Sheller of Colorado, Ivan Sheller of Lansing and Lynn (Judy) Sheller, also of Lansing; sister Shirley (Melvin) Dravenstatt of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.
