William V. Hartje, 77, of Fife Lake, died Tuesday, Oct 2, 1990 at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Hartje was a resident of Royal Oak until 23 years ago when he moved to Fife Lake. He retired in 1967 as plant manager for the DeVlieg Machine Company in Royal Oak. He was a member of The Peoples church in Kalksaka.
Mr. Hartje was born in Leaf River, Ill., on June 23, 1913 to Henry and Marie Hahn Hartje. On Aug 12, 1933, in Chicago, he was married to Ann Zimmerman who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Watson of Ann Arbor, and Elaine Tan of Rochester Hills; six brothers, Warren, Earl, and Carl all of Rockford, Ill., Henry of Miss., Myron of Wisc., and Ted of Minn; one sister, Marie Palamni of Rockford, Ill; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers, Glen, Herbert, Samuel, Joseph, and Irvin; and two sisters, Elsie, and Katherine.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct 4, 1990, at the Peoples Church in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges officiated. Burial was in Garfield Township Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
