William E. Short, 90, of Kalkaska, died Fri, May 21, 1999, at W.A. Foote Hospital in Jackson.
Born in Olivet on Nov 19, 1908, he is the son of Enos and Helen Crouch Short. He married Dorothy Long in South Boardman on Dec 21, 1935, and she preceded him in death on Mar 15, 1978. On Sep 9, 1978, in Kalkaska, he married Marie Sieting, who passed away on Apr 25, 1994.
Mr. Short resided in Seney prior to moving to Kalkaska County in 1934. He was a retired carpenter, and a member of Evergreen Bible Baptist Church. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.
Surviving are sons Raymond and Robert Short, both of Kalkaska; daughter elaine Hiler of Jackson; stepsons Allan Sieting of Galesburg, Lynn Sieting of Rogers City, Gale Sieting of Fife Lake, and Kent Sieting of Kalkaska; stepdaughter Sue Ann Jenkins of Kalkaska; brothers Glen Short of Manistique, Doyle Short of Kalamazoo, Frank Short of Rapid River, and Blaine Short of Manistee; sister Iris Zantjer of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Two brothers and a sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services were May 24 at Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Rev. William Kuiper, pastor of the Evergreen Bible Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
