William "Bill" Basel, 90, of Fife Lake, passed away on May 20, 2002, at Meadow Brook Medical Care in Bellaire.
He was born on Jul 12, 1911, in Detroit, the son of William and Emma (Cischke) Basel.
Bill married Charlotte G Wix, Aug 22, 1968.
He retired in 1979 from Cadillac Motors of Detroit after 27 years of service as a boiler operator. Bill and Charlotte moved to Fife Lake in 1983 from Richmond. Bill was a member of the Bronco Busters Riding of Richmond. He had a great love for horses.
Bill was a past board member of Kalkaska Senior Citizens Center and a volunteer at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center Auxiliary.
Bill is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Charlotte of 33 years; daughter Sharon (Fred) Miesel of Warren, stepson James Yancey of St Clair, step daughter Judy (Bob) Martin of Fife Lake; seven grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and son Gerald Basel.
His funeral service was May 23 at Wolfe Funeral Home. The Rev Phil Douglas of the Peninsula Bible Church officiated.
Memorials may be made in behalf of Bill Basel to the Meadow Brook Scholarship Fund. Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
