William Allan Starcher, 71, went to be with the Lord on Mar 4, 2006 after a brief illness. Following a laudatory and heartfelt prayer service with his family and friends at his bedside, an angel kissed his brown and he slept. Al was known for his hard work, holding two full time jobs a day throughout most of his lifetime. He was a phenomenal salesman for Sears, Penny’s, and Montgomery Ward, often receiving Top Salesman Awards. He worked as an engineer for 37 years on the River Terminal Railway, owned and operated a demolition and construction business, was an apartment manager, and a professional painting contractor for 17 years. Al never retired. Al was the son of William and Olive (nee McGlothlin) Starcher and was the fourth of seven children. Al was born in Richfield and was a lifelong Buckeye. He graduated from Revere High School and became an avid sports fan with an incredible memory for statistics. Preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Randal Starcher and sister, Judith Marcussin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dee; children, William (Cheryl) Starcher, Cheryl (Tony) Gargasz, Thomas (Beverly Klimp) Starcher, Gene Lepke, LeeAnne Starcher, Susan (Reese) Oblisk; grandchildren, Wendy Starcher, Thomas (Jamie) Starcher Jr, Crystal Gargasz, Heather (Greg) Reid, April (Victor) Anaya, Gene Lepke Jr, Daniel Feathers, Anthony Gargasz, Jermey Lepke, Jenny Lynn Lepke; as well as 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Walter and Kenneth Starcher, and sister, Betty Starcher. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at the Stow Presbyterian Church, 4150 Fishcreek Rd, Stow, on Wed, Mar 8 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stow Presbyterian Church Building Fund.
