Wayne Lloyd Lobstein passed away on Sep 28, 2021, in Peoria, AZ after a long battle with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). He was 79.

Wayne was born on Dec 5, 1941, in Brown City, MI. His parents, Lloyd and Vonda (Isles) Lobstein, raised him on their farm on Peck Rd.

Wayne was predeceased by his ex-wife Sharon (Giertz) – married 1958 – 1982 and is survived by his sister, Darlene Gorsline (Gary); brother, Arden Lobstein (Ruth); his children with Sharon, Patty Schesser (Donnie), Jeff Lobstein (Tracie), Kelly Lobstein (Paul), Eric Lobstein (Cathy) and Tim Lobstein, his longtime companion, Jackie Frearson (30ish years together), her children, Malinda Lerner (Al), Yolanda, Heath (Maria) and a total of 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

While living in Michigan, Wayne farmed for a time and then owned/operated Commercial Poured Walls while in Davison. In 1971, Wayne and family relocated to Arizona, where he spent several years in Mesa, AZ, then moved to the mountains in Flagstaff, AZ where he owned/operated Arizona Forest Contractors (logging company.) Finally settling in Phoenix, where prior to his retirement, he was a superintendent for a local construction company for many years.

Wayne was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) in 2019 and fought hard over the last couple of years. In Sep 2021, he chose to be under the care of Sage Hospice. With the exceptional care and support of his hospice team and his caregivers at Palos Verde Senior Living, Wayne was able to say goodbye to his family and friends.

Wayne passed away in the early morning on Sep 28, sleeping peacefully, surrounded by love. His children will all be lost without him, but only for a while. Remember that he taught all of them to work hard, to be resilient, to “pay your dues”, and be a good provider for your family.

A private funeral service will be held. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the MDS Foundation. Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) are an often unrecognized, under-diagnosed rare group of bone marrow failure disorders, where the body no longer makes enough healthy, normal blood cells in the bone marrow. The disease is also known as a form of blood cancer. There are approximately 90,000 new cases diagnosed every year, with an average lifespan for low-risk patients of only 6 years. Any donation would be appreciated.
