Ward VanHollis, 90, a lifelong resident of the Kalkaska area, died Saturday, July 28, 1900 at Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. VanHollis was born in Kalkaska County on April 10, 1900 to Charles and Etta (Smith) VanHollis.
Before retirement, he was employed by Elk Rapids Packing, East Jordon Tannery, the Civil Conservation Corps, as a Kalkaska Deputy Sheriff, and a Kalkaska County dog warden. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife Amanda (Swartwood) VanHollis; one son, Ward VanHollis, Jr of Kalkaska; one daughter, Margaret M. Lee of Oscoda; 14 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death on June 18, 1974 was his first wife, Edna. One brother also preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 31, 1990 at the Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Rev. Richard B. Jones officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
