Walter O. Douglas, 91, of Kalkaska died Jun 25, 2001, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mr. Douglas resided in Detroit until 1954, when he moved to Kalkaska County. He and his wife owned and operated Douglas Grocery at Bear Lake until their retirement in 1976. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Born in Detroit on Dec 5, 1909, he was the son of Thomas and Katherine Kline Douglas. On Jul 30, 1931, in Bowling Green, OH, he married Lulu Barnum who preceded him in death on Jul 11, 1987.
Surviving are son, Ralph (Zelma) Douglas of New Paris, OH; brother, William M Douglas of Plymouth; grandchildren Michelle, Richard, Cynthia, and Nicole; and even great grandchildren.
A brother, Joseph, and sisters, Doris and Marian preceded him in death.
Funeral services were Jun 30 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska; Pastor David Rosenberg officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
