Waldon C. Brand, age 90, of Kalkaska, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at Cherry Hill Haven. He was born on April 1, 1921 in Arbela Township, Tuscola County, MI to the late Cleo W. and Gladys (Shue) Brand. 

Waldon married the former Margaret R. Rhodes (Gregg) on October 15, 1953 in Independence, MO.

He served his country proudly during WWII in the United States Army. Waldon worked as a licensed contractor in the Kalkaska area for over 40 years. He was one of those guys that just enjoyed working and fixing things. 

Waldon is survived by his son, Michael (Jean) Rhodes of AZ; his brother, Terry (Joan) Brand of Alden; nephews, Ron (Joyce) Taylor of Alden, Ron (Becky) Brand of Gaylord, Eric (Lisa) Brand of Aurora, IL; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and numerous other nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 49 years, Margaret; his daughter, Sheryl (Brand) Williams; one brother, Charles Brand; and three sisters, Waneta Rondeau, Cleona Dice and Reta Lester (Pfeiffer). 

A funeral service for Waldon will be held on Friday, June 3, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home in Kalkaska with Dan Johnson of the Kalkaska Church of Christ officiating. Visitation will be held for the 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery.
