Mrs. Viola J. Stave, 66, of Rapid City, died Sat, Jan 18, 1997, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mrs. Stave moved to Kalkaska County 14 years ago from Howell. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the Lydia Circle and the Torch Area Artisan Guild.
Born in Minden City on Nov 29, 1930, she was the daughter of Harold and Beatrice (Schneidenback) Abend. On Oct 4, 1952, in Detroit, she married Robert Stave, who survives. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Laurie Jean Stave in 1981.
Also surviving are three sons, David Stave of Traverse City, James Stave of Maryland and Thomas Stave of Lansing; her mother, Beatrice Abend of Lakeland; brother Willard Abend of Pinkney; sisters Dorothy Press of Australia; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Jan 21 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Ted Turanski officiated. Burial will be in Clearwater Township Cemetery in the spring.
