Mrs. Velma G. Rowe, 80, of South Boardman, died Mon, Apr 6, 1998, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Rowe resided in Missaukee County until 1936 when she moved to South Boardman and lived on the family farm for over 62 years. Prior to her retirement in 1978, she was employed at the Register of Probate at the Kalkaska County Probate Court. She was a member of the Spencer Church of Christ, the Kalkaska County Historical Society, and a former member of the Senior Citizens Kitchen Brand. She enjoyed gardening and quilting.
Mrs. Rowe was born in Missaukee County on Jan 16, 1918, to Charles and Jessie Garton Hutchinson. She married Doyle Rowe in Traverse City on Aug 9, 1936. He preceded her in death on Jun 11. 1979.
She is survived by her son Bruce (Christi) Rowe of Troy, IL; sister Helen York of Saginaw; grandchildren Heidi, Jeremy, and Sara, and great grandchild Destiny.
Brothers Byrl and John Hutchinson preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Apr 9 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Tom Jones officiated. Burial was in Lodi Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
