Theodore "Ted" Schroeder, age 60, of Mancelona, formerly of Clare, passed away at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City on Saturday, August 13, 2011. He was born on March 6, 1951 to W. Norm and Roberta Schroeder.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Robin Lynne (Backus-McMenis) Schroeder; children, Tony (Shelli) Schroeder, Kristi (Zack) Griffith, Kati (Brian) Wysong; grandchildren, Morgan, Kaleb, Isabel, Madelyn, Seth, and Paityn; step-children, Shawn and Kristal McMenis; parents, Norm and Roberta; siblings, David Schroeder, Joseph Schroeder, and Peggy Stephens; and countless friends and neighbors who were his extended family.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carla MacDonald-Schroeder.
Ted was a long time resident of Clare, where he graduated high school. He continued his education in St. Louis, where he graduated from Missouri Technical School. Ted was resident of Mancelona since 1997 and served as a board member of the Maple Valley Homeowners Association. He was a quiet philanthropist and devoted giver wherever the need arose.
Funeral services were held on Friday, August 19, 2011 at 5pm, with a visitation starting at 3pm, at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, in Kalkaska, and on Saturday at 2:00 PM from the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Young officiating. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Munson Healthcare Regional Foundation Oncology Fund, 210 Beaumont Place, Traverse City, MI, 49685, or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
