Mrs. Shirley A. Parsons, 67, of Kalkaska, died Thursday evening, Oct. 12, 1989, at the Kalkaska Memorial Health Center.
Mrs. Parsons moved to Kalkaska from Grand Ledge in 1972. She served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 480 and Land O'Lakes V.F.W. Post 8684 Auxiliary. She enjoyed golfing.
Mrs. Parsons was born in Ionia on March 18, 1922, to Silas and Ruth McGowan Ries. On March 23, 1946, in Lansing, she was united in marriage with Manley D. Parsons who survives.
Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Randy Parsons of Kingsley; her mother Ruth Ries of Traverse City; one brother, Leland Ries of Cape Coral, FL; and two grandchildren.
Memorial services were held Monday, Oct. 16, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Scott Rhoades, pastor of the New Life Assembly, officiated.
