Shawnee James, 31, of Traverse City passed away on June 17, 2004, at her home in Traverse City.
She was born Oct. 4, 1972, in Traverse City, the daughter of Connie (Tracy) Turnbull and Lyle F. James.
Shawnee had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing for her friends and family. She was pursuing an acting career.
Shawnee is survived by her parents, Connie Lou (Jon) Turnbull of Kalkaska and Lyle F. James of Traverse City; siblings, Eagle James of Kalkaska, Morningstar James of Kalkaska, Michael (Lois) Turnbull of Kalkaska, and Brett (Kitti) Turnbull of Corunna; and nephew, Michael A. Turnbull.
Shawnee was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry "Buck" Tracey and Joyce Tracey, and her uncle and aunt, Frank and Ruby James.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, June 24, at Evergreen Bible Baptist Church with Rev. William Kuiper officiating. Interment was at Lodi Cemetery.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska.
