Mrs. Sally A. Vedder, 15, of Dunedin, Florida, died Tuesday, August 1, 1989, at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis, Minn., after a seven month battle with leukemia.
Mrs. Vedder was a graduate of Rapid City High School, Northwestern Michigan College, and earned her Masters Degree from Michigan State University. She taught school for 20 years in the Northwest School district in Jackson and Avondale High School District in Auburn Hills. She was a former member of the American Association of University Women, a member and twice president of Alpha Beta Kappa Honorary Women's Sorority, a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Dunedin and a member of the Dunedin Newcomers.
She was born on April 28, 1938 in Rapid City to George and Gretchen Robinson Mariage. On July 1, 1978 she was married to Glenn H. Vedder who survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Gretchen of Rapid City; one stepson, Dr. James Vedder of Alpena and two stepdaughters, Susan Nehra of Baltimore, Maryland, and Robin Wessles of Wayzata, Minn; two brothers, Joe Mariage of East Lansing and Tracy Mariage of Traverse City; two sisters, Virginia L. Lee of Rapid City and Gloria B. Cox of Flint; three step grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1972, a brother, George II in 1978 and a step grandson, Ryan, in 1987.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 5, 1989, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. E. Dan Johnson officiated. Burial will be at Clearwater Township Cemetery in Rapid City.
