Russell Paul Havens, 82, of Summerville, husband to Margaret Havens, passed away Apr 27, 2013.
Born in Warba, MN, he was the son of the late Paul and Ethel Lee Havens. He joined the US Army and served for thirty years, retiring as a Command Sergeants Major. During his military career he served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. After his military service, Mr. Havens worked and retired from Sentry Hardware in Summerville. He loved woodworking and building toys.
Mr. Havens is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Margaret Schanen Havens of the home; son Russell Havens Jr. of Goose Creek; two daughters, Karen Johnson and husband Roy of Summerville and Mary Gleason and husband Roger of Anderson. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Russell Havens III and wife Jessica, Matt Johnson, Mike Johns and wife Ginny, Michelle Johnson, Charlie Gleason, and Ricky Gleason; seven great grandchildren, Ryland Havens, Maddie Johnson, London Johnson, Haden Carroll, Charlee Marie Gleason, Turner Gleason, and Gage Gleason.
The family will receive friends Mon, Apr 29, 2013 from 6 to 8pm in McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel.
Burial will be private.
