Russell Allen Campbell, age 85, passed away at his home in Fife Lake, on Monday, June 13, 2011. He was born on September 2, 1925 in Orange Township to the late Darrell and Anna (Donathan) Campbell. 

Russell served his country proudly as a member of the United States Navy during World War II as a communications operator. He was also the ship's barber in the Pacific Theater.

Russell married Ella "Virginia" Beckwith on October 14, 1950 in South Boardman. Together they raised 4 wonderful children. 

Russell retired in 1987 after 37 years of service as a tool & die maker for Wayne Wire. While working for Wayne Wire, he also ran the family sawmill. Russell was an avid hunter and fisherman. 

He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Virginia; his loving children, Jerry (Deb) Campbell of Traverse City, Faye (Kevin Dilley) Bole, Chet (Chrissy) Bole, John Campbell of Fife Lake, Barbara (George) Bole of Kalkaska, and Marilyn (Robert) Terry of Texarkana, TX; 10 cherished grandchildren, Darci (Jeff) Velfing, Major (Jessica) Bole, Ella Virginia Bole, Billy Bartlett, Jerrett Bartlett, Ashley Bartlett, Alicia (Adam) Spiniken, and Katherine (David) Fahs; 7 precious grandchildren, Josie Bole, Justing Bole, Ava Bole, Brendon Dilley, Seth Dilley, Resse Velfling, Ciaran Velfling; and his dear sister, Lucille Carlson of Traverse City. 

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Doyle Campbell; and two great-grandchildren, Devon Ray Dilley and Logan Dean Belfling. 

Visitation for Russell will be on Friday, July 8, 2011 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Reverend Kimberland Hough officiating. Burial will follow in Orange Township Cemetery.
