Russel L Strope, 71, of Kalkaska, passed away at his home on Sat, Jun 7, 1997.
Mr. Strope was born in Dunkirk, OH, on Dec 11, 1925, son of the late Lee and Verna (Russell) Strope. In 1964, at Toledo, OH, he married Evelyn Oblinger, who preceded him in death on Jul 17, 1993.
Mr. Strope owned and operated Shelton Heating and Air Conditioning in Toledo for many eyars, and moved to Kalkaska in 1975 following his retirement. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was a member of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684, the American Legion and the Kalkaska Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are sons Lee (Claudia) Strope of Sylvania, OH, and James Strope of Kalkaska; and three grandchildren.
Brother Woodrow preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Jun 10 at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges, pastor of The Peoples Church, officiated. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery under the auspices of Land O'Lakes VFW Post 8684.
