Rose L. Stoops, 78, of Kalkaska, died Wednesday, Jan 2, 1991, at the Grand Traverse Community Hospital.
Mrs. Stoops moved to Kalkaska in 1931. She enjoyed gardening, reading, and raising rabbits.
She was born on Oct 8, 1912 in Benzonia to Albert and Susie (Snyder) Bolton. In April 1931, she married Ervie Stoops in Benzonia. He preceded her in death on Sept 3, 1978.
Surviving are six sons, Lawrence, Stanley, Vernon, Clark, William, and Wendell all of Kalkaska; one daughter, Mrs. Peter (Muriel) Weessies of Kalkaska; four brothers, Albert Bolton of Traverse City, Jack Bolton of Williamsburg, Robert Bolton of Texas, and Edward Bolton of Kalamazoo; one sister, Mrs. Neil (Marjorie) Barbour of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sons, Gordon Stoops, three daughters, Shirley Stoops, Sharon Stoops and Irma Stoops; one brother, Burt Bolton; and one sister, Pearl Richards.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan 5, 1991, at the Kalkaska Church of Christ. E. Dan Johnson officiated. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
Memorial contributions may be given for the wishes of the family.
