Rollin “Sonny” Arthur Jones, 81, of Fife Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2nd. He was born September 8, 1936 in Harrietta, Michigan to Rollin and Mabel Jones. He graduated from Manton High School and them from Michigan Technological University with a degree in civil engineering. Rollin married Lloy Battenfield in 1958. From 1958 to 1965 he proudly served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. When Rollin returned, he worked for the Michigan Department of Transportation before beginning his career in 1965 at Thompson-McCully in Belleville. He retired in 1996 as the Senior Vice President. After his retirement he enjoyed farming, his community, his grandchildren, coin collecting and spending time in Florida.
Rollin is survived by his wife, Lloy and his brother, Calvin (Rosetta) Jones. He is also survived by his children, Rollo (Brigid) Jones of Traverse City, Tom (Becky) Jones of Longmont, CO, Sue (Kent) Fuhr of Austin, TX, and Randy (Kelly) Jones of Traverse City; his 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Rollin was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Dorothy and Norie, and his granddaughter, Emma Jones.
Funeral Services will be held at the Kalkaska Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 8th. Visitation will begin at 11 am with service at 12 and lunch to follow.
