Robert P Heffelfinger, 82, of Kalkaska, passed away on Oct 23 at Mercy Manor in Grayling. He was born on Apr 19, 1926 in Chicago to the late Adolphus and Jenny (Lind) Heffelfinger. Robert married the former Arlene Mae Smith on Aug 10, 1989 at the Bear Lake Christian Churhc. Robert served his country during WWII in the US Air Force and carried a love of airplanes with him throughout his life. He worked for A J Klough in Chicago as a pipefitting architect before moving to Florida.
After marrying Arlene, the couple made their home in Kalkaska, where Robert loved to farm. His favorite thing about farming was driving his tractor during haying time. Robert was a member of the Bear Lake Christian Church and the American Legion Post in Kalkaska.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 19 years, Arlene; his loving daughters, Carol Lynn Kinney of Naperville, IL, and Jean Taylor of Wheaton, IL and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Kincaid.
A memorial service honoring Robert will be held on Sat, Nov 1 at 2 pm at the Bear Lake Christian Church with Pastor David Rosenberg officiating.
