A life well lived with dignity, honor, loyalty and an exuberance for life

On October 10, 2022, Robert Lavern Sprague, age 91, went to his heavenly home. Robert was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved family above all. He was also a devoted and loyal friend to all those he met along his path of life.

Robert was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on January 3, 1931. He joined the Air Force as a young man and retired in 1970, traveling and relocating numerous times. During his early days in the military, he met his first wife, Velma and they had two children, Christopher and Roxanna. After retirement from the military, he relocated to Orlando, Florida and began a second career as a truck driver later retiring from the teamsters.

Upon retirement, Robert relocated back to his home in Michigan to live on his property in Fife Lake. There he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, gardening and a love for the simpler life. He called it “God’s country.” It was here that he could put all things in perspective and reminisce and tell stories about his life and his beloved family.

Robert was predeceased in death by his son, Christopher. He is survived by his daughter Roxanna and her husband Daniel, his four grandchildren, Shannon, Zachary, Chelsea, and Clayton and one great granddaughter, Jaden.

A visitation for Robert will be held in Orlando, at A Community Funeral Home (910 W. Michigan St. 32805) on October 20th from 5:30 pm – 8 pm. Then he will travel to Michigan for a celebration of life service at Kalkaska Funeral Home in Michigan (152 S Cedar St, Kalkaska, MI 49646). The service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Kalkaska Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Clark Cemetery. Refreshments will be served after the burial at the American Legion – Post 219, located at 10283 M-186, Fife Lake, MI 49633.

We are sincerely grateful for the family and friends who have given us support and comfort at the time of our loss.
