Robert J. Vipond, 72, a lifelong resident of Kalkaska, died Sunday, July 29, 1990 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.
Mr. Vipond served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was employed by General Motors, and in 1945 joined the Kalkaska County Road Commission. He retired in January, 1980. A life member of Evergreen Baptist Church, Mr. Vipond was a talented musician in the Kalkaska area.
He was born on January 13, 1918 to Floyd W. and Anna M. (Armstrong) Vipond in Kalkaska County. On April 5, 1941, he was married in Kalkaska to Gertrude Nolff, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Rev. Fraser Vipond of Springfield, Va., Douglas Vipond of Pontiac, and James Vipond of Kalkaska; seven grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
One brother, William, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 1, 1990, at 1 p.m. at the Wolfe Funeral Home, Kalkaska. Rev. Fraser Vipond and Rev. Richard Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Kalkaska.
Memorial contributions may be directed in Robert Vipond's name to the Evergreen Baptist Church in Kalkaska or to the Kalkaska Commission on Aging.
