Robert J. Shannon, 99, of Fife Lake, died Tue, Apr 30, 1996, at Tendercare of Traverse City.
Mr. Shannon was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Mar 22, 1897, son of the late Richard and Eleanor (Robinson) Shannon. He married Edith Gill in Detroit on Aug 6, 1921. She preceded him in death on Aug 24, 1983.
Mr. Shannon was a retired painter and decorator, and moved to Fife Lake from Detroit in 1954. He served in the U.S. Army during WWI, and was a Life Member of the Fife Lake American Legion Post.
Surviving are two sons, Earl Shannon of Benson, AZ and Robert Shannon of Westmont, IL; one daughter, Mrs. Gary (Carol) Coates of Fife Lake; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Fri, May 3, 1996, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Rev. Paul Karges, pastor of the Peoples Church, officiated. Burial was in Clark Cemetery, Kalkaska County.
Military rites were performed by the Fife Lake American Legion Post.
